UK economy set to tumble deeper into recession

Miles Costello

(but did you notice that the US economy will shine in H2 2009 according to the Blue Ribbon CEO's)

A leading economic forecaster gave warning today that the world's seven core economies, including the UK, will head further into recession over the coming months but floated the prospect of a "tentative" recovery in some industrialised nations.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said that its leading indicator for the Group of Seven nations had fallen in February from 92.2 to 91.3. This resulted in a 10.3 point drop year-on-year, it said.

"The picture for all countries remains weak with the outlook in the United States, Canada, Japan and the major non-OECD member economies in particular, further deteriorating since last month," it said.
