Good Question: Pardon Me, But Why Are These Pirates Still Alive?

I am trying to the life of me to understand why four Somali pirates in a lifeboat are still taking in air. We have the power of the United States Navy in the area and these guys are holding it at bay.

Is there a reason that four snipers have not opened their heads up to the ocean air yet? Honestly, I don’t get it. Does the crew of this hijack vessel have more backbone than the current Administration?

The captain jumped into the ocean last night. How is it that the guy can jump ship and the boat the pirates are alone in isn’t destroyed?

And now, the pirates are demanding $2 million and have a hijack German cargo vessel coming to rescue them.

“Knowing that the Americans will not destroy this German ship and its foreign crew, they (the approaching pirates) hope they can meet their friends on the lifeboat,” said the pirate, who has given reliable information in the past but asked for his name not to be used.

“Our friends (on the lifeboat) hope for $2 million ransom as well as their own safety,” he added.

They won’t even destroy a lifeboat. Of course they aren’t going to destroy a cargo ship.

I’m trying to give the Navy, and the Administration, the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there is something legal that is holding them back. But I don’t think there is. Even the French tried to rescue their hostages (H/T Jawa Report):

A French hostage and two pirates died Friday in a rescue operation off Somalia’s coastline, the French president’s office in Paris said Friday.

Four hostages, including a child, were freed from the hijacked yacht after almost a week of captivity, Nicolas Sarkozy’s office said.

The French military decided to move in when pirates refused their offers and increased threats against the hostages, it said.

The four adults and a child had been held aboard their yacht, the Tanit, since it was seized in the Gulf of Aden on Saturday, the president’s statement said.

Let me try to wrap my mind around this. We have a group of pirates that took and American ship. The ship’s crew repelled them and retook the ship, but the captain was taken hostage in a lifeboat that is now adrift, just floating in the ocean. On board the lifeboat are four pirates and the captain. During the night, the captain, in a bold move, jumps into the ocean and tries to escape. The pirates jump in after him and capture him again.

Now they have another pirate ship coming to rescue them and want a ransom.

In the meanwhile, John Kerry wants to hold hearings on the matter. Obama won’t even comment on the subject.

And he has officially been labeled a pantywaist by the media. Well, the British media (H/T Michelle Malkin):

Watch out, France and Co, there is a new surrender monkey on the block and, over the next four years, he will spectacularly sell out the interests of the West with every kind of liberal-delusionist initiative on nuclear disarmament and sitting down to negotiate with any power freak who wants to buy time to get a good ICBM fix on San Francisco, or wherever. If you thought the world was a tad unsafe with Dubya around, just wait until President Pantywaist gets into his stride.

I told a friend of mine last night that close to everything Obama has done on the international level has weakened America and it’s image as a superpower. I find it difficult to believe it isn’t on purpose.

Why do I say that? Because this pirate situation is a simple matter to correct. It’s called a U.S. Navy SEAL sniper:
Granted, a pile of leaves in the middle of the Indian Ocean might be a bit obvious, but these pirates are preoccupied with a hostage that likes to jump overboard. I think they could get close enough to take out the dirtbags on the lifeboat.

So again, I ask: Why are these pirates still alive?
