This is the US military you are talking about and since when has cost been an object ? If I may write the script, we should send a useless but repainted tanker into the area. When the pirates attack, the attending sub surfacers and blasts them to smithereens with the deck gun. Works in the movies, and should work in real life. Navy also jams radio communications for pirates, so the process can be rinse, lather, repeat. Nothing is mentioned to the press until the last pirate has had his short drop and a sudden stop.
