How do you think the decreased trade deficit is going to fare for the USD? I know a lot of gold bugs are betting on the dollar collapsing, but seems the lower trade deficit numbers game it a bit of a boost.

I dunno but I think China is in a better position.. I believe tat the US is more boxed in..

I know that would be the rational call, given that China has $2 Trillion in reserves and we're in hock to them.

But our society if much more flexible than their's, IMO.

It's easy to be a one party state when all the times are good, but a huge portion of the Chinese population has seen the "good life" and then seen it taken away from them as they are sent back to their farms after being locked out of their factories.

Chinese unemployment, primarily due to diminished exports to the US, is rising and this article cites a report that the Chinese unemployment rate could rise from 4% to 14%. That's GOTTA BE pretty frightening for the ruling government officials.

Once an "entitlement" is given, there's hell to pay when it's taken away. And that "good life" was being perceived as an entitlement for all the decades of enduring communist rule.
