Am sure the Repiglicans were involved but what I remember most clearly is that the Demorats tried to force the agencies to take on a bunch of loans that were blatant crap. When the agencies balked, saying the loans were garbage, the Democrats tried to ram legislation through to force them to take the loans on. Definitely scumbag tactics, even for Congress. Congressmen had better hope there is no God because, if there is, they are all going to spend a very long time in Hell. Many people foolishly think the concept of being forgiven means they won't be punished. If they check their biblical texts they will find that there is no relationship between the two.
