Its easy to find examples of human misconduct from the past.

But is the lesson to be derived from that that there is nothing good to be handed down from the past?

Or is it that human nature is corruptible and that we need to expect that to continue to be and so we should therefore be wary of any changes that rely on people being inherently more moral in the future?
