He probably meant the far right- it IS embarrassing to watch the naive people talking about Tea Bagging their representative (for example), and then getting mad when they find out what tea bagging is. :-) I mean on the one hand you feel sorry for them, but on the other you think "My god, that person is out of it."

Or seeing them go on and on about an ACORN conspiracy ACORN knows nothing about.

That is crazy stuff. Of course I think it's perfectly fine to make fun of it all- so I have to disagree with him on the making fun part. Humor is the best sanity enforcer we have. No one wants to follow people so nutty that most people laugh at them. And that's a good thing.

There are plenty of conservatives who aren't embarasingly clueless, and who do not subscribe to the right wing conspiracy du jour- but they don't seem to post much on SI, and they certainly aren't the shock jocks of the right who dominate the radio.
