UW, in general, you'd be right. You'd be right 99.99% of the time. <There is nothing more outrageous than DHS declaring former American servicemen are a terrorist threat against America. >

One of the common mistakes amateur bombers make is to blow themselves up. Well-trained military people are much more likely to succeed. They are also more disposed to using their talents than rank amateurs who have to learn from scratch.

But if I mention "Invictus", what comes to mind? Surely an ex-military man who successfully conducted the second best terrorist attack in the USA. Second only to another military man who destroyed the Twin Towers and a lot more besides. Osama was even on the USA side for a while against Gorby [which shows the paucity of thinking back then].

It was even kind of funny when the doctors tried to blow up LPG containers at Glasgow airport. Idiots! independent.co.uk They had obviously watched too many movies of cars exploding in huge fireballs and didn't know that's not how things happen. LPG tanks don't "blow up". They do what they did at the airport.

And the doctors were presumably INTELLIGENT Islamic Jihadists. The dumb ones get hydrogen peroxide fizzing and leaking onto the wick or something as in London, though they did get one or two to go off. Even the fairly well organized IRA would blow themselves up from time to time, which was a good thing.

Don't forget the valiant Shoe Bomber [aka Richard Reid] who couldn't light his shoes. What a klutz.

After teaching people to kill opponents, and how to do it, it should not be surprising when their long and effective training comes to them as a solution to their later problem situations. At least to a small number of them.

Granny with nail clippers is NOT a threat. The Tim McVeighs and Osamas of this world are = military people with knowledge and inclination. Doctors are obviously not much danger either.
