Sarah Palin had worked with our largest trade partner, Canada. She was well versed in the world's most important commodity, oil. She was an executive in a far flung outpost and the buck clearly stopped on her desk. She was running for vice president, not actually that major a position, "Not worth a bucket of warm piss" to quote one of the holders.

The over the ice to Russia was from Saturday Night Live, not the candidate. Stop quoting it.

The heat in the cold war came from USSR sensing weakness and moving to exploit it. Our friendly agreeable JFK took us closer to a nuclear exchange than anyone before or since. When he failed to reinforce the Bay of Pigs, Kruschev had the measure of the man. That week my Father was away on business and my Mother planted a rock garden thinking it would be her final act on earth.

That is why we are horrified to see the symbolism of our President bowing to any other head of state. We hold no allegiance nor fealty to any other nation. No titles, we threw out royalty.
