Politicians actively encouraged financial institutions to lend to people of lower incomes. This was to help boost minority home ownership rates, boost property values and therefore property taxes, and generally cash in on the whole real estate boom.


That sounds plausible but under closer scrutiny it falls apart. For an example, how did politicians actively encourage lending to poor people? They couldn't without violating all kinds of federal and state laws.

Once again, you're talking about something you don't understand.
