I'm an independent but I think most Republicans realize Bush was an an abomination and abberation of conservative values. He tried to outspend the Democrats. Seems like the last two semi-responsible guys we had were Newt Gingrich and first term Bill Clinton. I'm no Gingrich fan but "Contract with America" seems like the last fiscally responsible thing passed by Congress.
