Stick to the subject, we are talking about high speed cross country trains, not metro commuter trains. The former doesn't seem to have much demand as it competes with aircraft. The later has demand but some of that is due to lower cost in part from local, state, and federal subsidy. As well as avoidance of traffic jams. So the increase in LA's metro trains does not necessarily mean there will be an increase in demand for cross country trains.

No one is talking cross country except you. Until mag levs become practical, the best we can do is regional hi-speed rail. People take it because its convenient and less stressful. More will take if its faster.
