Krugman, Stiglitz, and many other top economists are all on the same page, so you are arguing with the smartest economists in the country.

They feel if the government uses the deficit spending to build infrastructrue it will pay off in the end. LIke hihg speed rail and a new energy grid.

To use an analogy. Say the government spends 50 million to build a bridge which hires lots of people. When the bridge is built it not only helps out commerce but they can also charge a toll to pay back the loan.

Or if you build an apartment building. You go into debt, but then when you start renting units you pay back the loan.

It also stimulates the economy.

That is the theory they are working under.
