Baker Hughes optimistic on Petrolite unit
HOUSTON, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Baker Hughes Inc said Monday it expects savings from its Petrolite unit to approach $35 million in fiscal year 1998, ''significantly exceeding pre-acquisition expectations.''
The company said revenue in its oilfield operations increased 22.5 percent to $785.5 million in the fourth quarter, while operating profit before tax rose 30.3 percent to $120.5 million. Earlier the company posted a loss of $0.49 per share versus a profit of $38 a year ago.
