That and the ubiquitous, yeah, well, YOUR side does THIS- which I gather is supposed to nullify any possibility you could be right. Why not just say, "I wouldn't let my child do that either, but it's their rights as parents and leave it at that". Or ask just when it IS appropriate, or offer studies that show dead baby pieces are good for kindergartener's mental health. Instead, it turned into an attack on the church. It's their fault their service was invaded becuase they allowed a course on teen sex education to be held there.
No, dead baby seals definitely wouldn't be on my list of appropriate viewing material. And if the school is going to show them to five year olds- although I have never heard of any doing this- parents should be notified and be able to opt out.
I didn't comment on the parental right to teach their child, just that I thought it was crappy parenting. You may remember that I had a problem with those parents in Mass. not being able to opt their 7 year old out of hearing the book "KIng and King". I got argued with I think by you and John, but it didn't change my opinion. I strongly back parental rights. I may not approve, but I won't deny them those rights, even though they may want to prevent others from exercising theirs. |
