THAT is what's relevant. And it's disingenuous when these GW scientists try to suggest that the melting/calving in the West is an indication of global warming

No, it isn't disingenuous. Antarctica does seem to be warming, although precise measurements are difficult to come by. It was so cold before in the east, the glaciers won't be melting, they are getting added precipitation in the form of snow. Some people have even suggested that the added precipitation there is connected to drought in Australia--the relative warmer climate has shifted wind patterns and pressure areas so that the precipitation is falling in different places. But the West is breaking off not only because of increased air temperatures, but increased water temperatures.
