they do much more than that - would make one puke....

lets say we have a potential 5 party contest in 1 constituency. there are probably 2 major parties and 3 minor parties.

there will be "agreement" amongst a major party and 1 or more minor parties - goes like : we wont put up a candidate here if you dont put up a candidate there.....simple horse trading of votes from party blocks regardless of what the individual voters choice may be.

To put it in US context : imagine if Ross Perot had done a deal with DNC/RNC saying - in XYZ Congressional District, I wont have a candidate if in ABC Congressional District you dont have a candidate, so I get the whole lot there...
