and despite the fact that 45M people have no coverage, we are STILL the most expensive care in the world....that point is not in dispute...nor is the fact that many of these countries have a lower mortality rate, longer life expectancy and so on.
It is the most expensive, true, but that's because it is far and away the best.
The 40 or 45M who don't have insurance largely choose not to have it, preferring instead to take their chances. But you totally ignore the fact that these people, although not having insurance, do not want for health care. They still get better health care, even without insurance, than is available in any other country in the world. Many qualify for Medicaid but are not even willing to go get their Medicaid credentials (ask any physician office staff how often they see this -- it is daily in most offices).
Life expectancy, of course, is not a valid criterion for measuring health care outcomes unless you can isolate other variables, which cannot be done. Basic statistics, which you apparently missed.
At any rate, it isn't just Cato that discredited the WHO report. We discussed this here a year ago at length, and it was solidly shown to be an incompetent analysis.
The WHO report is, frankly, absurd, and you have the question the intellect of anyone who subscribes to it as the basis for any opinion on this subject.
