Or he was a coward and took the easy way out because he knew he would end up rotting in jail. Not saying he was but either case could apply here. I can say that committing suicide is, in general, a cowardly action. Everyone has problems and issues. That's what life is all about but at least suicide is less evil than killing someone else.
