Strategia Corporation Announces Retirement; New Year 2000 Projects
LOUISVILLE, KY. (Oct. 24) BUSINESS WIRE -Oct. 24, 1997--Strategia Corporation (ASE:SAA) announced today that James P. Buren, Executive Vice President, has retired from his positions as an officer and employee of the Company. Buren has agreed to act as a consultant to continue to provide substantial support to the Company in many areas including technical product development, quality control, and marketing. Buren will also continue to serve as a Director of the Company at the pleasure of the other Board members.
Buren stated, "I am excited about my continued involvement with Strategia as it emerges as a nationally known information services company. My new role will allow me to focus on the areas of the Company that will contribute to long term growth."
Buren further stated, "I have committed to retain most of my Strategia stock. I believe Strategia is well placed to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the Year 2000 problem. This in turn should position Strategia to provide new unrelated services to our customers well into the next millennium."
Richard W. Smith, President of Strategia, stated, "Jim's loyalty and devotion has meant a great deal to the Company and to me over the years. His agreement to stay involved will be invaluable to us. We will be able to continue to rely on Jim's technical knowledge and experience."
Smith also announced two new Year 2000 projects. "We are very pleased that Strategia recently signed a contract with the University of Louisville. Under the contract, Strategia will perform Year 2000 conversion and compliance testing on key administrative applications."
"We are even more excited about a recent success for Strategia Europe, our European subsidiary. It has been awarded its first Year 2000 conversion project by Conseil General de Loire Atlantique, a governmental agency roughly analogous to a county government in the United States. The European market for Year 2000 services has been lagging behind that of North America. It is heartening to see Strategia's capabilities being recognized this early in the market cycle."
