Not condemning or condoning. It was a comment that concentration camps could ever be tolerated in this country by "we the people." Manzanar is an eerie place to visit. We had a Japanese family living down the street from us. They went to the same church and school that we did. The mom was in the PTA and the family was an accepted part of our community. They had a '38 Ford pickup truck, which they gave to the next door neighbor for safe keeping. When they returned after the war, the neighbor had moved taking the truck with them. The father and the grandmother died in the camp. We weren't afraid of them.
