Re: "there is NO COMPARISON...."

Sure there is!

That's just silly. (Simulating a drowning effect is simulating a drowning effect, even though exact techniques may vary some....)

Re: "Totally different than the current use of the technique...."

Jl, does the word "totally" have some special and different meaning for you that is apart from what "totally" means for everyone else in the world?

I mean... if you said that there were 'some' differences in the exact techniques used by various people throughout history for torturing subjects by making them feel like they were drowning --- Chinese water torture, the Spanish Inquisition, the Gestapo, the Japanese, the Vietnamese, the US in the Spanish American War, the French in Algeria, and the US in the post 9-11 wars, etc., etc., well then OF COURSE I could agree with you! That would just be the plain and simple truth of the matter! There have been many varied ways to use water torture. The human mind is a very inventive thing!

But, are the recent US techniques "TOTALLY DIFFERENT" then all other forms of water torture throughout history?

Of course not!
