US has a different culture as houses are concerned. Americans build house to last 30 years max. They build a new house if they start a family. By the time their siblings are out, they may be nearing retirement, the house is no longer worse maintaining. They demolish and use the lot to build new ones. A nd the cycle restarts. They have lots of spaces to build suburbs. Gasoline and cars are cheap so they commute a lot. The construction is very efficient since it can ne standardized. In Curitiba we build with bricks (hollow blocks), mortar and concrete.It is very ineficient and labor intensive but labor there is cheap.
