IIRC, it was like $5B to $9B. Of course I'm against that. CA needs to solve its own problems, not rely on handouts.

IMO, it could help California. The American auto industry has been stuck in a Detroit mindset for quite a while. At the same time, foreign makes like Hyundai and Toyota have been marketing for years to the huge car culture here in California. Chrysler tried to do that with the Pacifica. I can count on one hand how many times I've seen the Pacifica on CA highways.

The overall point I was making is that if GM and Chrysler were to disappear tomorrow, the economy will be just fine and the Midwest as a whole won't hit a depression. There are tons of other industries in the Midwest, including Ford, Boeing, John Deere, etc. Even my wife's company just opened up an expansion site in Kansas.

So much for "too big to fail" ...
