Nassim Taleb's book "The Black Swan" makes two very important points"

1) Most of us know less than we think we know.

2) Our largest dangers are risks we cannot see and we our not preparing for, or trying to understand e.g. our present depression and massive worldwide bank failures; and maybe global warming-lol.

We have entered the era of science and technology where only a few people can understand many things we invent these days like credit default swaps (CDS's) or collateralized debt obligations (CDO's), or any one of myriad trading algorithums that often have unintended consequences.

We need to enlist our academicians and scientists and bring them into our government as our first line of defense against an increasingly complex world.

What happens BCB, if you are wrong about global warming? That is the question we should all be asking.
