This week they reported that prior to Nixon, a president typically had the support of most of the country in his first 100 days. For an example ,JFK's rating was 83% in his first 100 days.....Eisenhower had a high rating as well. In fact, this liberal vs conservative split and lesser ratings for presidents didn't start until after the 1960s. When I heard that, everything started falling into place for me.

The 1960s was the first time Americans seriously rebelled over issues that were not economic......the war in Vietnam and the blacks rioting in the cities. Then there was the silent majority who weren't really a majority at all. The over the top hostility towards the Clintons.....damn, they accused them of murder. The way the 2000 presidential election was handled in Florida. I realize now that the election of Obama is a much bigger event than America electing its first black president. Its putting the political spectrum in this country back in its proper order. The right has had way too much say in this country's future....in the way it conducts its foreign diplomacy, how it spends its money, its role in the world etc.......and they have become consumed with this power. Its why they are having such difficulty accepting their defeats in 2006 and 2008. What's scary is it required giving them complete control of the country before Americans woke up to the danger.
