Koan,

You conveniently decided to forego responding to the fact that 90% of the Japanese Geoscience Union (no slouches when it comes to the scientific process) disagreed with your son:

When this question was raised at a Japan Geoscience Union symposium last year, he said, "the result showed 90 per cent of the participants do not believe the IPCC report".

Geoscience, and in particular Geophysics, is different from Atmospheric science in that it is more "wholistic". It incorporates studies involving EVERYTHING about the planet, not just the atmosphere.

But more telling is that these scientists were from Japan, where the Kyoto Treaty was signed. You'd think they'd have that much more incentive to "toe the line" with regard to GW.

The reality is that the GW's and the IPCC report is guided by a tyranny of the minority. The majority, from what I read, recognize that more research needs to be undertaken before conclusions are drawn.
