Nobody opposes clean air or water. The question is at what cost?

California is a great example with its recent requirement that gas pump nozzles be replaced. It seems that the current nozzles only capture 95% of vapors emitted during filling one's gas tank. They wanted 98%. Not that it matters one iota.

So, CA gas station owners are having to pay $11,000 per pump for a new, 98% compliant nozzle when the 95% nozzles were just fine.

Who picks up this tab? The station's customers, of course. Who are already broke, overtaxed, overregulated, and have a variety of much bigger problems.

But no. They did it to themselves.
