Techie,

I agree with this post. However, given the time frame of
the telco RFP (which I assume will be awarded sometime
this fall and implemented in early '97) don't those vendors
with a low cost DMT chip (read CG and ADI's) have a shot
at at least some of the RFP money? I would guess that AMTX
will win part of the RFP on the expectations of CG. I don't
think that the telco's care that much about current commercial
status. After all, that is why they are doing the RFP, so that
products can be made in large enough quantities to drive down
the price.

Additionally, I'd like to take the angel's advocate view of
the xDSL market when the bigger boys get in. I don't think that
there is enough technical expertise in DSL (particularly DMT-based)out in the workplace
right now for a USRX or an ASND to be cutting edge competitive
w/and AMTX or a ORCT right now. The assumption that these big
companies will waltz right in may be invalid.
