Do you support the enemy soldiers killing our soldiers. Ours, after all, have killed some of theirs. Do you support the enemy in doing what they can to expose classified US security, after all, we do what we can to gather intel on them. Do you support the enemy having strategies that destroy our military operations, we have, after all, done that to their operations.
Your remark would seem to imply that if we treat these AQ guys nicely it would, in some way, change they way our guys were treated if captured. Of course, that isn't the case at all.
The proof is in the pudding. By inflicting mild discomfort on these three individuals it is clear hundreds, if not thousands, of American lives were saved. It was the correct call.
There was no wholesale rough interrogation, it was limited to three individuals whom we knew to have credible information, and the application of these techniques was extremely limited and controlled. And successful.
The black eye on America is a result, not of these procedures, but of western liberals blowing it out of proportion. And this includes the liberal members of Congress who have repeatedly used the term "torture" to refer to something that is far less than torture, to a point where even some on the Right have started to claim it was torture. |
