I'm single and live alone (except for my cat and dog), but another thing to consider with a gun is the significant other. I have a friend who was gut shot with his own .45 auto by a live-in girlfriend that thought he was cheating on him. He WAS cheating on her, but still, it hilights that women often overreact and don't understand proportional response. Another buddy of mine was sent to prison (for dealing) by a girlfriend who turned him in for cheating on her.
