It all started when Reagan let the weeping bible thumpers into the (R) party, which had already just absorbed all the southern racist rednecks. The wealthy people that ran the (R) party then thought they could easily control the stupid dumbasses, just throw them a bone now and then and do the usual fear mongering..

But then the crazy morons realized that without THEM, the (R)'s wouldn't HAVE control. Which put THEM in control. They started demanding more of THEM as representatives.

Now, if an (R) demonstrates any sanity, he's thrown off the crazy train! Which keeps shrinking in ridership, while simultaneously getting louder and crazier..

When it gets to where it's common knowledge that you can be a (D), an (I) or be a complete loon (R), maybe things will change.
Maybe more (I)'s will start getting elected. Maybe a new party will arise.
