You still haven't explained your belief that one party rule will lead to an era of multiple parties. What, you think the Democrats will fracture once the Republicans are gone? Talk about counting your chickens before they hatch ...

I think both the Dems and Reps will fracture. Frankly there are a lot of moderate Republicans that don't want to become Democrats, but don't want to be identified with the nut job Rush conservative 'movement'. And there are a lot of moderate Democrats who could be picked off by a centrist party.

All it would take is one VERY well respected politician (a Colin Powell type) to step up and say "the parties don't represent the mainstream so I'm forming a new party... come join me". BAM!... we have 3 political parties. Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
