I've been a hockey fan for about 44 years....I was never a player, although I did learn to skate a bit....a bit meaning not very well, but just enough to realize how hard the ice is when you fall, sans padding...OUCH!! A long time Los Angeles Kings fan, I used to plan my vacations to coincide with their training camp, those days in Victoria B.C., and actually got to know a few of the players...of course the Kings were a league doormat in those days, but there was just something about getting involved in the day to day regimen of the training camps that made me a life-long fan.
