Hat tip to Tim Fowler: Obama’s pirate problem Dispatched from TJICistan Under Obama, US forces have killed 3 pirates and seized one. Well, alleged pirates. Putting on my Progressive hat, I have to point out that we Progressives are incensed because: 1) there was no congressional resolution to use force 2) the dead Somali citizens were not proven to be pirates 3) the live Somali citizen is being held with out charges being levied. Ha! That was fun. …but more seriously, is anyone else enjoying the heck out of the fact that Obama and the Democrats castigated Bush and the Republicans over the “illegal” detentions at Gitmo …and now 1) Obama is expanding the Bagram detention facility (conveniently located 5,000 miles, not 90 miles, from US reporters) 2) As of three days ago Obama is challenging the US courts, arguing that captives stored at Bagram have no right to challenge their incarceration, and the earlier Supreme Court cases over Gitmo that leftists cheered is non-operative. Discussion question: Is Obama just trying to grab up as much power in every single corner of the state-space that he can?... tjic.com
