Game over for H5N1: who.int
x = 10 deaths ..... Death rate

2003......4...x ........ 100%
2004....32...xxx ........ 75%
2005....42...xxxx ....... 40%
2006....80...xxxxxxxx ..... 69%
2007....59...xxxxxx........67%
2008....33...xxx ..........75%
2009.... 7 deaths of 26 cases so far to 23 April, so the death rate has dropped again and at that rate, by the end of the year there should be only a dozen deaths.

Looks as though birds have developed enough immunity to put the kibosh on it, and humans didn't get to self-sustaining mode. But the death rate finished on a high so it's as fatal as ever.

H1N1 aka swine flu looks as though it's a fizzer too with a low death rate and probably not becoming pandemic though it still has potential.
