It is just as with stocks and commodities. The voting public in the USA has a very large group people. Just like stock traders they move with the wind.

As the opinion of Obama lowers, just like in a stock, those who haven't looked close then look closer to see what the problem might be. Many no longer remain strong supporters and some cross the line and become strong nonsupporters. Once the lines cross the observance of many reflect in their support or lack thereof. The more that drop from the support line more are added to the nonsupport line.

Many people rely simply on sound bites and polls, however as they are jostled by less and less support they look even closer for the reasons.

Like Krispy Creme Obama has rolled in on high expectations even though the product was pure grease and sugar. Then people started to notice that the companies fundamentals were all grease and sugar. It was the end of Krispy Kreme as we knew it.

So as the lines converge from high support to lower support and higher nonsupport the downward momentum picks up and people become more critical and outspoken in nonsupport.

In otherwords watching the support dwindle causes investors or voters to look closer. Many never look close at Obama's "stock" they just saw it had many clever gimmicks that appealed to them. As they watch Obama's "company fundamentals" fail to live up to his news releases they become discouraged and Obama and company lose support.

Obama's "company" are within the Dem Sector and he will begin to trade down with the Pelosi/Reid fundamentals as the shine wears off his apple.
