Re: Another long post

This thread is getting very interesting. The quality of the posts is much better than the childish arguments so prevalent elsewhere.

<<PTEC does pay their System Enginneers very well and PTEC does pay overtime !>>

Pheonix lost a lot of engineers to Intel and SystemSoft due to low pay. I don't think Pheonix or any other company pays their exempt employees overtime - it's probably illegal (overtime is paid to hourly employees - not engineers). SystemSoft shouldn't even exist as a company at all. It only exists because Pheonix blundered by allowing raids on their staff.

You gave a list of products that Pheonix has engineered well. They tend to produce good products when they stick to their strength in assembly programming. When they produce high-level applications such as PheonixFax and their Postscript printer software, they fall on their face.

You can argue that Pheonix is catching up to SystemSoft in PCMCIA market share, but that's not good news. Pheonix is a much larger company with a longer history of developing assembly language products, and they should've established a monopoly or a commanding position in PCMCIA right from the start. If they're making a comeback, that's great, but they never should've been behind in the first place.

<SystemWizard and Call avoidance "promise" to solve 90% of Win95 system problem>

You've attributed somebody else's quote to me. I consider SystemWizard to be snake oil, which is why I shorted SystemSoft. As you mentioned, SystemSoft clearly has superior marketing. Imagine what would happen if they had a useful product!
