Its not just fuzzy convictions. Numerous leading scientists who are not themselves religious acknowledge the fine tuning of the universe and the genetic code is real and that it implies there is some sort of mind behind it all. As for whether its convincing, it convinced one of the most intellectual of atheists, Anthony Flew, to become essentially a deist not long ago. The evidences are real. Now this doesn't necessarily lead one to Christianity or other particular faith, but it does indicate that the mind behind the universe definitely has a real interest in living things, having arranged for them to exist. From this one can logically expect that such a being would be interested in and seek a relationship with conscious intelligent living things once they show up. You don't have to cite a single verse from any scripture to believe the above - its just logic. Then one can ponder which religious faith is closest to what such a being would reveal.
