Techie, I think the Cisco's of the world are adopting a somewhat of a wait and see attitude. They know ADSL is not even in the early adopter stage yet, but also understand it will be big. Given the lack of direction from telco's (nothing has been deployed yet in the U.S. outside of technical and marketing trials) and uncertainty about which version of xDSL will be the front runner, that may be a smart attitude for the present time. However, if they wait too long, they might be caught in the same situation as the try but fail Cascade buyout last year.

I understand that NT's qam may be compatible with cap. If that happens, we will now see a second source supplier, a prerequisite for most telco's. Good for cap, bad for dmt. As you stated in an earlier post, timing is critical. Superior technology often falls to product that can comfortably be deployed the quickest.
