If we follow Krugman and he is wrong - our economy is gone. You might be willing to take that chance, I'm not. I would rather follow those who warned us of the mess coming our way if we didn't change and they were smack on. Why should they be ignored now and Krugman embraced?
Steve, there is another, much better course. Don't follow anyone.
Read as many as you have the time to read, filtering which ones on the basis of their expertise, their ability to state esoteric things clearly, their track record, their ability to teach you something, and so on.
Then make up your own mind. Krugman's not right on everything, nor is Obama, nor is Geithner, nor is Stiglitz, and so on. But the point of paying attention to all of them is to work out your own views. And then lobby your local, state, and federal politicians with what seem you to be the best courses of action.
Krugman, my guess is, would be astounded to hear that anyone would consider "following" him. |
