That wasn't what I was talking about. The difficulty in communication and the meltdowns was the notable behaviors I was referring to. Parents do care about that and it makes dealing with an autistic child difficult.

The tricks with numbers is fairly common on the spectrum, doing complex mental math is especially common. Seems like cheating in Number Sense competitions, but...

No, communication is a key factor. probably the biggest differentiator between autism and Asperger's is that those with AS don't have as much problem with communication. Not that it is trouble free, Einstein, for example, was 4 before he started talking, and small talk is always a problem. But it is nothing like a low-function autistic.
