is the idea that an explosion of government spending and debt beyond the already massive levels they increased to under Bush is necessary or even beneficial for the economy.

I didn't mean to imply it was beneficial to the economy - but that it was better than the alternative. I'm a believer in the Austrian School so I think nothing but time will get us out of this depression. That's what I mean we must play the hand we have been dealt. The numbers of job losses are real. There is no way to pretend they are not. No amount of wishing they could all go back to work is just not going to work. We can let them roam the streets and all go hungry and die ........or we can swallow hard and at least get something instead that is positive for our nation.

I guess my question to you is what do you want to do with these people out of work? WE have waaaaay too many houses and waaaaay too many cars and waaaaay too much food. So what the heck do you think they should all do? We not only lost the millions and millions of jobs ......but there are more people who needs jobs as our population continues to climb!
