However anyone who knows anything about the region already realizes that Lebanon is vastly more liberal and less repressive then --- (for example) --- any number of other governments in the region (Saudi Arabia, Syria, the entire Gulf, Egypt, etc.,) that one could point to.

You can get a wider range of domestic opinions in Lebanese newspapers than in America.
