As I have said, my isolation plan is a "dark interregnum" option, which I consider highly improbable. And it does include the current NAFTA members as part of "fortress America". Maybe South America too. Obviously, the US will have to get back to manufacturing some of the stuff it imports, using the multitudes that are now occupied in financial services and nail salons. Mexico can get back to inexpensive manufacturing, replacing Asia. We can pay for Mexican imports with American natural gas. In a few years the US will be exporting energy to Mexico, not the other way around.

Mq and TJ think that trade and globalization are essential for the health of the USA. Their view point is distorted because they live in countries where trade IS essential.
