Mike, I agree with you on all points. But I think the fact that CSCO decided to go with STRM instead of CSCC would eventually prove to be detrimental to CSCC unless they get bought out as well. The dynamics of this sector is changing quickly. Right now the carriers are the only ones left that insist on putting together the 'pieces' themselves instead of going to a vendor that would sell a total solution. When they see the light so to speak, it would hurt CSCC. Either CSCC has to grow into being another total solution company or they have to be taken over. Right now they are enjoying the premiums associated with barrier to entry. That won't last too long.

NT QAM is compatible with CAP, their press release clearly stated so.

"RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Nortel and Broadcom Corporation, a leading supplier of silicon solutions for the broadband
digital transmission market, have announced today plans to develop an Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) single-chip
transceiver based on Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) for use in the development of Nortel's high-volume Carrierless
Amplitude Phase Modulation (CAP) ADSL access products. "

By the way, I am not trying to imply DMT is dead. I am however saying the initial deployment in '97 would be won by the CAP camp, at least the bulk of the business would be CAP.
