In all fairness to HL their management is much better than CDE's IMO. Of course that does not mean that HL will outperform CDE.

The strategic move to buy Greens Creek was good and during a period when base metal prices were higher. It also appeared as though they might be able to cash flow the debt. But the credit market turned south even faster than the metals prices and HL had to finance like they did. They were unable to raise capital when the stock was 6 bucks or so and as the credit market crashed so did the stock and they had to throw more paper at the problem to cover the debt.

HL has a team of good miners and geologists. When and if the market for zinc and lead recover even somewhat and if silver and gold do well I think HL can surprise to the upside. Their resources at Greens Creek and Lucky Friday have tremendous growth potential.
