Computers aren't fashion accessories.

Those who look at that as a very important aspect of their handset will continue to upgrade fairly often....as will gadget geeks. However, there are a huge number of people that dont fall into either of those categories and yet have been upgrading their handset fairly often because of the utility of the new features....and even these people will continue to upgrade, just at a slower pace. The replacement market is so large that a change from something like every 24 months to every 30-36 months would have a large impact.
