It's a pity we've not been discussing an industrial type company instead of a bank. I'd feel more confident interrogating the fundamentals of an industrial and making a call on its medium to longer term possibilities.

My gut feeling tells me that one should ignore any current price volatility of WFC and stay with the company for the longer haul, but I can't support that with an analysis of its Fundamentals.
There's no doubt that the company is directed by sound management, and that must count for something in the current climate.

.... and speaking of 'price volatiltiy', I see WFC's price is currently up over 10% from yesterday's close. And there's no doubt that the company's price has been in an uptrend since the beginning of March. That's over 2 months, which I'd say is more 'medium term', and it also included a set of financial results.
