5/8/09 update
For a change, biotechs did not lag the general market and the Contest portfolios had a particularly good week. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 10.65% CYTD, or Contest Year To Date, (vs. up 9.39% CYTD a week ago), while the NBI was down -5.12% CYTD (vs. down -6.71% CYTD a week ago). And the Contest median almost wiped out its loss for the year, closing the week down just -.45% CYTD (vs. down -5.74% CYTD a week ago).
Mine That Bird won the Kentucky Derby but it was GEORGIA On My Mind in the Charity Contest race. GEORGIA's portfolio galloped into first place with ATRC in the saddle, while GENE's portfolio rode into second place boosted by ACAD with RKRW's portfolio finishing in the show position. The end of the week CYTD percentages are: GEORGIA up 49.73%, GENE up 44.15% and RKRW up 40.07%.
At Friday's close, 16 of the 32 Contest portfolios are in the black and 17 of the 32 are beating the NBI.
Have a wonderful weekend folks!
